Floods in West Africa

Over the past 3 weeks, hundreds of thousands of people in West Africa have been displaced because of heavy flooding. This is barely making the news.. Why Poor folks who are black that are rarely heard and rarely seen. My colleagues and I have running models at Howard and sending the data to colleagues in Senegal and Guinea to help those governments people warned about daily hazards. Putting together a workshop in 3 months to get these efforts off the ground in Senegal.

Protest at HU

There was a protest on Friday with a number of demands coming from the students. President Ribeau knows of many of these problems but is trying to deal with so many problems at once that it is difficult to make things right at the present. I think that we have to give him a chance because he inherited many of these problems. Trying to get the right people in to fix the problem takes time. The faculty are frustrated also but are all committed to giving their best to the students. We all want change. Sometimes we gotta be patient.
